Our Mission:  To improve the quality of life of our animal friends by strengthening the bond between humans and animals;  ending suffering due to abandonment, abuse, and neglect;  and eliminating the need for euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in our shelters.

Hi, I’m Foster, the C.A.R.E. For Animals’ mascot.  My job is to be as cute as humanly, er, doggedly possible.  It’s a pretty easy job for a smooshy-faced, stubby-tailed pooch like me!  They even dress me up in shirts and hats, and once, I had to wear an elf suit at Christmas!  It’s all for a GREAT cause though…. you see, I’m an Ambassador for all homeless pets.  I was rescued from a shelter where I almost lost my life.  Sadly, I left behind many of my friends, who may not have been so lucky.  They say the pet over-population is just too great and the number of homes too few.  Please spay & neuter your pets and make a life-time commitment to them! After all, we ALL deserve loving families and permanent homes!

Animals are a wonderful part of our lives.  They bring us joy.  They make us laugh.  They give us unconditional love.  They bring us sorrow when they leave us, but leave us with cherished memories of  true friendship

But , many animals in our society are suffering.  They are homeless and unwanted, abused and neglected.  Some go hungry on our streets; others put to death in our shelters; and many suffer silently at the hands of their owners, who either don’t understand, or simply don’t care.

As the old saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child”, and we believe it takes a community to make the world a better and safer place for animals to live.

Together , we can make a difference in the lives of animals.

C.A.R.E. For Animals is a non-profit, all-volunteer animal welfare organization located in Raleigh, NC.  We were founded in 2001 by a single individual with a remarkable passion for animals. One by one, more animal lovers have joined together to end suffering and promote kindness, compassion, and responsibility towards animals.

We are a network of foster families and dedicated volunteers providing help to dogs, cats, and families in the Triangle area of NC and surrounding communities.  We do not have a shelter facility.  Our adoption and fundraising events and all volunteer activities take place in the community.

C.A.R.E. For Animals strives to address the suffering of animals and the epidemic of homelessness and euthanasia. Our goal is to make the world a better, safer, and more secure place for all animals to live.

Our efforts include:

  • Rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, neglected, and otherwise unwanted animals
  • Adoption of homeless pets into nurturing, responsible, and permanent homes
  • Pet owner assistance, as an effort to prevent pets from losing their homes
  • Community education, to encourage responsible pet ownership and increase knowledge of animal welfare issues
  • Community support, to offer assistance and address animal-related concerns
  • Promoting compassion towards animals and increased social responsibility among youth
